Obrigheim -> Neckarwestheim[2] 15 Castor casks 2017 transport by ship on Neckar river;
Obrigheim NPP was closed on May 11, 2005
[3]
1st transport started on June 26th, 2017[4]
2nd transport started on September 4th, 2017[5]
La Hague -> Phillipsburg 5 Castor casks from 2018
Jülich -> Ahaus 152 Castor casks from 2018[6]
Garching -> Ahaus 5 Castor casks from 2018
Sellafield -> Brokdorf 7 Castor casks 2018, 2019 or 2020
Sellafield -> Biblis 7 Castor casks 2018, 2019 or 2020
Sellafield -> Ohu 7 Castor casks 2018, 2019 or 2020

  • the next Castor transports to a temporary nuclear repository in Germany (formerly destination was Gorleben[7]) are supposed to take place between 2017[8] and 2020[9]:
    • 152 Castor casks containing spent fuel of the failed very-high-temperature reactor (VHTR) AVR Jülich are supposed to be shipped starting in 2018 either to the central temporary repository in Ahaus or to the USA[6]
    • 342 high level radioactive spent fuel elements from the 2005 decommissioned Obrigheim NPP including 48 fuel elements made from reprocessed uranium and 40 much plutonium containing MOX fuel elements, which both emit a much stronger radiation than normal spent fuel. This all will be assembled to 15 Castor casks to be shipped by Neckar river to the interim storage site at Neckarwestheim NPP[6] Loading the first three Castor casks started on May 16th 2017[10].
      • the transport started in the early morning of June 26, 2017[11]
      • rally against the Castor transport took place on 28th of June at 8.30 AM starting at railway station in Heilbronn[12]
    • high level radioactive waste from the plutonium factory (so-called "reprocessing unit") in Sellafield (UK) in 21 Castor casks[13] in 3 shipments (of 7 containers each)[14][6]
      (earlier information: or 4 shipments[15]; former transport date announcements: 2014[16], 2015[17]; or 2016[18]-2017[15])
    • intermediate level radioactive waste (MAW) in 5[6] (formerly announced: 11) CASTOR HAW28M casks in 2 shipments from the plutonium factory (so-called "reprocessing unit") in La Hague (F) expected in 2017
      (earlier information: 2014[16], but by 2015[15])
    • additional 150 casks containing other radioactive waste from reprocessing is supposed to be shipped to Ahaus after finishing the high level radioactive transports[6]
    • 5 Castor casks containing highly enriched weapon grade uranium are supposed to be shipped to Ahaus starting in 2018 from Garching research reactor München II[6]
